Steps To Fix Your Xbox 360

March 11th, 2010

So, you’ve fired up your Xbox 360 for your next gaming session. The drive starts to spin, the green ring of light flickers into life, and you slip a game out of its case. And then it happens.

Your heart sinks.

once green ring of light has turned red, and you know that till you find an appropriate Xbox 360 fix, your gaming days are over.

But how does one go about finding an Xbox 360 repair and ridding yourself of the dreaded red ring of death?

Microsoft will gladly offer to perform the Xbox 360 repair for you, but at a cost. How does $140 and shipping strike you? Well, that’s what you will pay for Microsoft to perform the Xbox 360 repair if your console’s out of guaranty. And to make this worse, you will be forced to wait six to 8 weeks for your console to be returned.

“But my console’s still under warranty,” you assert, “I’m fine.”

Wrong! You’ll still need to pay for shipping, and that is $25 minimum. And there’s the packing up to take into consideration, too. You need to confirm your Xbox 360 is secure for it’s long and doubtful trip to an economic section in McAllen, Texas, right on the U.S.-Mexico border. Yup , you heard right. Your pride and joy will end up down there on the border for God knows how long.

So what are your alternatives for the Xbox 360 correct you desperately need? What about some of the methods you’ll find online?

The “Towel Trick” is a good example. If you’re familiar with the “Towel Trick” then you will already bear in mind that it’s worthless and doubtless deadly. One respected blogger latterly said that you’re more likely to set your Xbox 360 on fire than correct the difficulty. The reality is, the fast fixes you will read about on gaming websites and forums simply don’t work.

Your last option for an Xbox 360 repair is to take the machine apart and do it yourself. This is not a new idea. Gamers have been doing this since the launch of the 360 – sometimes successfully, usually disastrously. Until now, this “self-fix” has involved soldering bad connections within the console. But this isn’t something the average gamer should be attempting. This is not a toaster we’re talking about, after all. It’s a piece of high tech equipment. You are rather more likely to cause further damage and void your warranty.

So you would like an Xbox 360 repair, and the Microsoft option simply isn’t fast enough, inexpensive enough, or convenient enough. And the fast fixes you will find online just do not work. And naturally, the “self-fix” is beyond anybody but a talented technician, and if it goes wrong you’ll void your warranty and cause further damage.

But don’t panic. Now there’s another Xbox 360 fix option. One that is easy, guaranteed, and certain to have you gaming again in less than 2 hours. And best of all, it’s approved by tech pros who know the inner workings of the console like the backs of their hands.

Forget the tricks and quick fixes. Forget the hassle of packing your 360 up and returning it to Microsoft for months.

This is the only Xbox 360 repair you need. And it is the only Xbox 360 repair that is certain to work.

How good does this sound? Real human customer support, complete video instructions, and the peace of mind that this Xbox 360 repair has been developed by tech pros who have successfully performed it dozens of times.

If you’ve enjoyed all the exciting information you read here about xbox red ring of death causes, you’ll love everything else you find at 3 red light error

Hard Drives Are An Essential Part Of A Computer

March 5th, 2010

Hard drives are an integral part of a running computer. All the data is stored on the hard drive, such as the operating system, the program files, and the commands. Personal files such as pictures, music, and documents are also stored on the hard drive.

The drive is very fragile so it should never be shaken or dropped. Inside is a spinning disc that can be easily damaged or erased if handled improperly. Also, never put metal or something magnetic near the hard drive, as it will erase.

Anywhere from a hundred to a thousand gigabytes of space are on hard drives. A thousand is called a terrabyte. It depends on what types of files the user has. If it’s a photo collection or music they may only need a few hundred. Graphic designers will likely need much more.

Internal hard drives are stored inside the computer and mainly used as the main drive for the computer to run on. External drives are stand alone and can be easily hooked up to an existing computer by USB and used for extra storage or for backup.

After a long time hard drives can die. Some can last for years while others can burn out quite quickly. They need to be replaced every so often, so be sure to have data backed up onto another drive or on dvd or something similar.

A good way to take care of your hard drive is to perform maintenance every so often, such as defragmenting. This deletes old and obsolete file fragments that are cluttering up the drive and will free up space and memory.

A drive can also be reformatted which means it is wiped of all data and can be started anew. This erases all previous data, however, and anything else that is stored on it. Be sure to back up first before doing this.

Flat Screen Computer Monitors For Every Day Use

March 5th, 2010

An LCD monitor is a flat screen monitor, and they usually come packaged with computers. Their benefit is that they’re light and they move around easily. They use less energy as well, and range anywhere from fifteen inches to over twenty five, though that size is more for people who need monitors for professional use.

Flat panel monitors were once very expensive. The popular type of monitor was a bulky and large one that took up space and was heavy. LCD’s are now very affordable and very popular as an add on to computers. Tube monitors are barely used these days. Big monitors are still popular but they’re used mostly by gamers and designers.

Aspect ratio affects the picture quality in a monitor, but doing some research will help the shopper decide what kind they need for personal use or perhaps for business. A graphic designer, for instance, would need a larger, more detailed monitor to work with graphics.

Start on the internet or at the local stores. At computer stores there will be salespeople to help out and find what you need. Conversely, the internet is usually a lot cheaper. Monitors usually come as a package bundle so it’s more going to be about what size you need, or what brand you like the best.

Also, if you have a good graphics card in the computer then you’ll want a good monitor to pair it with. The graphics card helps the monitor to work at its peak performance.

Getting anti glare for the screen will help those who are at the computer for long hours. Too much use can cause eye strain and headaches. Take a break from the monitor every so often to rest your eyes. As mentioned earlier, an LCD monitor will help to cut down on the eye strain too,

If you need to replace your desktop PC, it can actually get confusing. The technology is becoming so great that there are now so many options that you can choose from. Knowing which ones you need can take some time and research so that you decide what you need and what you can live without. There is no need to pay for a lot of technology that you really don’t need and you will not even use.

It is best to do your research before you begin looking into purchasing a computer. You will need to know what type of processor you want. You also need to know what size hard drive you will need.

One of the most important things to consider is the type of processor that you get in your new desktop computer. Each one has its own advantages and disadvantages. You will need to know what you will mainly use your computer for in order to know what processor you will need.

The graphics card and the size of the hard drive are also things to consider. The size of each of these will make a big difference in the performance of the computer, depending on what you will be using it for most of the time.

Buying a new computer can be a lot of fun but you don’t want to be wasting your money. Know what desktop PCs offer before you begin looking and you will not be disappointed.

Key Factors For LCD Monitor

March 2nd, 2010

LCD monitors are getting bigger and bigger so to make sure you are getting the right one for your viewing space you need to check several factors before just going out and buying the biggest or least expensive monitor. There are also a lot of terms used to describe the different models and you should understand what each is before making a commitment to buy.

The size of your monitor will be measured on the diagonal from the bottom lower corner to the opposite top corner. Some may give actual length and width measurements but be wary as these can be estimates or rounded. You want to look at the actual screen size when looking at the measurement, so the actual TV may be larger than this given number.

The number of pixels in each direction is also important and this is known as the aspect ratio. This ratio tells you how many horizontal pixels they are per vertical pixels. Common aspect ratios is 4:3 while high definition is 16:9. The latest HDTV are ultra wide screen that has a ratio of 2:1. Where you place your TV and then view the screen will affect this ratio.

Aspect ratio is another important factor and most high definition monitors will have a 16:9 ratio. This tells you how many pixels there are horizontally versus vertically. So for every 16 pixels horizontally there are 9 vertically. Non high definition sets will have a 4:3 ratio while the newest ultra wide screens have a 2:1 ratio.

One of the biggest marketing tools used for LCD monitor is the contrast ration which can be difficult for the customer to understand. This basically finding the difference between the brightest spot on the screen and the darkest potion of the screen.

This measurement does vary throughout the monitor so the given number will be the highest contrast ration found on the TV, so it will not apply to the whole screen. Basically this means that the whites will bright and black very dark.

Information About Computer Processors Or CPUs

March 1st, 2010

Processors were first brought to life during the 1960s but have changed a great deal since then. The introduction of transistors and semi-conductor based technology has led to miniturization of these components allows for CPUs to become more practicable in their application.

Many features affect the speed at which the processor is able to complete its tasks. Features such as the front side bus or computer bus, the clock speed, the type of socket used for the CPU, the amount of cache and external factors such as the cooling system that has been implemented to cool the CPU.

The bus determines how quickly the CPU is able to communicate with the other components within the PC, you can think of it as an actual bus transporting the commands to and from the processor. The faster the bus can go the faster the commands get to their destination. The speed of the bus can also be affected by the type of socket that is designed with the CPU, one of the more faster sockets available is socket 7.

The most important feature of the CPU is the clock speed, this dictates how quickly the processor is able to complete a task. The bigger this number the faster a task can be completed. Since processing one task at a time does not seem very efficient, a process called parallelizing has been conceived. This involves integrating multiple processors into the core of the CPU, this enables each mini processor to complete tasks syncroniously with each other. Intel have called this process Hyper-threading which you may have heard of.

The CPU cache is an important feature of any modern CPU, it allows for the quick retrieval of files by the processor and as such helps to increase optimal performance of the processor.

I briefly touched on this earlier with socket 7 but I will explain a little more here. Each processor has a different type of connecting base, called the socket. The socket is the way in which the processor connects to the motherboard and as such as there are many types of sockets, there also need to be many types of motherboards that other connectivity to the processor. Different sockets provide different speeds of communication and when buying a processor the motherboard will also need to be considered.

The cooling system that is attached to the CPU will also affect the performance. Processors are designed to operate within a certain temperature range and as such if there are not within this range do not operate optimally. As the CPUs get very hot cooling is an important feature of any PC. An effective cooling system will incorporate a heatsync applied directly to the CPU along with a fan system to remove heat from the heatsync.

How To Choose An External Hard Drive

March 1st, 2010

Most people who own computers also buy an external hard drive. Even though every computer includes an internal drive, this is a very wise decision to make and can aid in protecting you from losing all of your data. This article will help you choose the right drive.

Many people still only use an internal hard drive. However, this is not a clever idea. If anything happens to this drive, you are at risk of losing all of your computer’s information, including software, photos, documents, music, and everything else. Also, if you are ever attacked by a computer virus, your data may be corrupted or completely lost.

An external drive is a great choice for backing up your data. In fact, you should regularly schedule your computer to back itself up onto such a drive, so that you can rest assured that your data will not be lost.

Many people use an external disk drive to store data, like photos, music, and other documents. They do not store these things on the internal disk, so that the disk can run faster. When the internal drive is only used for starting up your computer and running applications, it will make the computer start up faster and run faster. This happens because the drive does not have to sift through tons of information.

The smallest external drives are called thumb drives and connect to a computer through the USB port. They do not require you to install any extra software on a computer and are very simple to operate. Though modern thumb drives have quite a lot of storage capacity, it usually is not enough for backing up an entire computer.

To back up your computer, buy a larger external hard drive that connects via FireWire or USB. Make sure it has ample room for all of your stuff.

Apple Laptops Are Wonderful For Students

February 22nd, 2010

It is time for me to purchase one of these notebooks for school and among my many options is the Apple Laptops. My college friends and I are working on schooling to get on with our lives, and it seems like everyone owns one of the Apple computers.

Im starting to think its not just a fad or popular, since students dont normally waste precious money on things that arent going to produce the results they need. Because about ninety percent of us are dirt poor! Barely getting by.

My buddy Jacob told me he bought his laptop while hes attending law school and hes extremely happy with his purchase. He said hes owned laptops before but the frustration with the constant troubles with the other brands of PC notebooks. He raved about the fact that you get the laptop and start using it right away, its very easy to use. He also said that as he adds new software it doesnt get sluggish like other PCs do.

The fact that it only has 2 ports for USB is no big deal since you can buy a hub for extra ports if you really want to. He likes how durable it is since he is driving around so much between home and school and his girlfriends house.

Another friend recommended the Apple Laptops for multimedia because it has the power to handle big jobs and its faster than the PCs hes used in the past for the same projects.

The computer is great for editing large photos with aperture and also priced well enough if you need it for just word processing or surfing the internet. He loves the fact that its easy to pack around the school or anywhere.

My friends that are girls really enjoy using this unit as well. One girl says that this computer is really easy for her to use and she doesnt need to have a degree in computer repairs to understand it. She raves about how fast and ultra efficient the unit is and never hangs. She tells me it is so easy that she even was able to get her Gramma working on it with no problems!

For great deals on Apple laptops, check out these used Apple Powerbooks and used ibook computers for sale.
